COVID 19: IS IT SAFE TO SEND KIDS TO SCHOOL AND SAFETY TIPS FOR CHILDREN GOING TO SCHOOL

COVID 19: IS IT SAFE TO SEND KIDS TO SCHOOL

As school will reopen in the next few months, parents are confused whether it is safe to send kids during COVID pandemic. Cases of corona infection transmission among children were reported where school was reopened.
❇️ Why school is important to children?
The Maximum paediatric group says that getting kids back to school helps in physical, mental, social and emotional development. Also help in better learning and prevent mobile addiction.
In short... school provide more than academics to children
❇️ If school reopen, shall I send my kid?
If your kid is more than 12 year then you can send kid to school in following conditions...
▪️ If child is preparing for competitive exam like  NEET or IIT
▪️ If a kid is not comfortable with online education or self study.
▪️ If a kid has a lot of doubts in a particular subject.
🔹 How long shall we wait?
Till vaccine is given to each and every child or corona infection transmission is under control as we had seen in China.
Remember.... Health is wealth
🔴 Role of parents
       ----------------------
Parents can play a major role in prevention of corona infection spread.
❇️ Reinforce the everyday precautions
As kids are ready to go back into the classroom, parents shall teach and reinforce all COVID pandemic precautions.
🔹 Social distancing
      ----------------------------
For prevention of corona infection spread, ask children to keep at least 6 feet away from other children. You can practice at home and reinforce repeatedly.
In short.. Teach your kids by following rules yourself.
🔹 Wearing mask
      ------------------------
It helps in preventing the spread of respiratory droplets that may be released while breathing, talking or coughing.
▪️You can practice at home by asking kids to wear a mask for 3 hour continuously if school is planning for an interval after 3 hour of the first session. Encourage kids not to touch the mask before 3 hour or interval.
▪️Ask kids to use a sanitizer before removing the mask for lunch. Keep the used mask in a separate bag.
▪️ Before using a new mask for the 2nd half, train the child how to wear a mask. Always use a new mask so it is advisable to send 2 masks with children. Sanitize the hand before wearing masks.
▪️ Encourage the child  not to touch the mask before reaching at home.
Remember... An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure.
🔹 Washing the hand intermittently.               ------------------------------------------------------
It limits the risk of getting sick by touching a contaminated surface and then spreading virus to eyes, nose and mouth if you touch your face.
▪️ Encourage children to use sanitizer during academic sessions.
▪️ Teach proper hand washing technique. Ask the child to wash hands with soap and water before taking food on break.
In short... Prevention is better than cure.
❇️ Avoid sharing
🔹 Teach your kid not to share anything including food till pandemic is under control.
🔹  If a kid wants notes or academic material from another kid, ask them to share via social media.
In short... Follow guidelines, it prevent your problems
❇️ After coming back
🔹 Ask kid to remove shoes and shocks at doorstep.
🔹 Ask kid to wash hand before touching anything.
🔹 Ask kid to take bath.
🔹 Wash kids clothes in hot water.
Remember.... One who maintains hygiene, keeps away diseases.
❇️ Avoid sending school
🔹 If child is having cold or cough or both.
🔹 If child is having fever
🔹 If child is having anxiety regarding coronavirus infection.
In short.... Be part of solutions, not the problem
❇️ Consult Pediatrician
🔹 Physical illness
▪️Fever
▪️ Cough and cold
▪️ Any other illness
🔹 Behavior issues
▪️ Temper tantrum
▪️ Fear of corona
▪️ Not able to eat or sleep
🔴 Role of school
     --------------------------
Parents must ask questions to school authority regarding safety measures and disinfection policy before sending the kid back to school. To prevent the spread of infection, there are a number of steps schools should take...
❇️ Transport
🔹 Encourage parents to drop their kids at school rather than using transport facilities.
🔹 Increase number of school buses. Have students ride the bus in assigned seats that are distanced apart.
🔹 Encourage kid to move in a straight line while coming in and going out of the school.
❇️ Classroom
🔹 Keep the door of the classroom open.
🔹 Desk 3 to 6 feet apart.
🔹 Fewer students in class room.
🔹 Teachers move in classroom, not students
🔹 Meals at desk rather than at cafeteria.
❇️ Strict rules
🔹 Compulsory mask to all students and staff members.
🔹 No students or staff members should attend the school if they are having fever or cough/cold.
Remember... Rules are there for your safety
❇️ Cleaning and disinfection
School should follow guidelines from the government for cleaning and disinfecting common area. Surfaces that get touched a lot such as door knobs or keyboard should be cleaned as often as possible.
